When you think of going to a stranger with whom you will share your story, you may become aprehensive. What makes therapy work for you though is telling your story, being heard and listening to how this person responds to what you have to say. A good therapist will give you some feedback, or ask questions to clarify what you saying so they clearly understand what you are communicating. We are trained to do this in a supportive manner so that you do not feel threatened. We go a your own pace in helping you address difficult, challenging or sensitive topics. This allows you to gain some insight or motivation to change or move toward the goals that you have. |
